Starr Lynn Boykin is the granddaughter of former
Congressman Frank W. Boykin, founder of Tensaw
Land & Timber Co., Inc. and daughter of J.R. “Bob”
Boykin, former President and CEO of the family
company. Starr grew up in Mobile, Alabama and
received her Bachelor of Education Degree from
Auburn University in 1980 and her Master’s of

Alabama in 1986. She left her career in education in
1987 to intern under the tutelage of her father to
prepare for her leadership position in the family
business. Upon her father’s retirement as President
and CEO in 1988, Starr assumed the position of
Secretary/Treasurer of the family business.
Starr’s responsibilities at Tensaw include
coordinating the management and evaluation of
timber, hunting and oyster leases on land located in
Mobile, Baldwin and Washington counties. She
represents the family on all projects associated with
Tensaw Land & Timber Co., Inc. which has recently
included the multi-billion dollar carbon steel
processing facility by ThyssenKrupp in Calvert,
Alabama and an industrial park to provide
commercial support for this development.
Additionally, Starr oversees the planning and
execution of the family and invitational hunting
events held at the Frank and Ocllo Boykin Hunting
Lodge in McIntosh each year. Starr oversees the
investment of the company’s investment portfolio.
Her role in hunting and fishing has been very
proactive. Her mother, Lynn Boykin, was the first
female Chairman of the Board and President of the
National Wild Turkey Federation. Starr and her
father attend the national convention each year to
present the Lynn Dent Boykin Hunting Heritage
Award to the annual recipient. Starr and her mother
achieved their World and Grand Slam in turkey
hunting together and enjoyed several African
safaris. She attends the Kansas Governor’s Turkey
Hunt each year as an invitee of Kathleen Sebelius,
Governor. She is a lifetime member of the National
Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association,
Coastal Conservation Association, Alabama Wildlife
Federation, Boone and Crockett. She served for
several years as a member of the Board of
Directors for the Mobile Chapter of the National
Wild Turkey Federation. She is also a member of
FLW Outdoors, Redfish Nation, and the IFA.
Starr has been a televised co-host on an Outdoors
Fishing program and has been part of shows that
were filmed all across the United States, Central
America, and the Caribbean. She successfully

SKA Kingfish Tour for several years. In 2003 she
began fishing professionally on the Oh! Boy Oberto
Redfish Tour and in 2005 added the FLW Redfish
Tour and later the IFA Redfish Tour to her
challenges. In 2007 she was awarded the
Copperton (Schering Plough) corporate
sponsorship from Wal-Mart and the FLW for her
sustained and positive contributions to the sport.
Each year Starr participates in the “Kids Wishing to
Go Fishing” program for underprivileged children.
She has been published in “Outdoor Alabama”,
“The Thomasville Times”, and many local
newspapers for her accomplishments. The driving
force in her life has been the desire to share the
positive aspects of the outdoors that has been part
of her heritage with others and she has contributed
all of her knowledge and energy to this effort.
Starr also serves her community by volunteering
each month at the Methodist Homeless Shelter by
serving meals. She shares her home with her seven
dogs, two horses and other wildlife.
